This is the NEW improved pebble Magnetic blade guard from Bisbell.

It's an iconic hard case that will protect you and your knives through thick and thin! Tested by machine to 5,000 openings, then we stopped the test as it was getting boring watching and we figured that would see most people out! It's hard wearing and looks great too!

These patented knife edge protectors keep your knives sharper for longer by protecting the blade edges when stored in a drawer or wherever you store your knives. They also help protect you from those nasty accidents and help keep your blade as sharp as the day you put it away!

The large blade guards are only available in black with the pebble pattern on one side the reverse side is plain with a small area where you can write your name or which knife is stored in the guard - 265mm long and will take a blade up to 55mm wide. Suitable for most large chef's knives and Japanese style blades - although better to measure your blade first if you are thinking of a particular favourite knife you want to protect.

These guards are sold in singles - so if you want a set of 3 or more you will need to purchase each size you need individually.

The blade guards are well designed and sturdy. They offer a safe and convenient way of storing knives in a drawer which otherwise would be a hazard or take damage to the edge. They are a huge improvement to the previous soft version and to my knowledge the best knife guards available. They are not perfect, though: The one tiny flaw I noticed is that the thickness of the blade itself is not taken into account (enough). Without a blade inside, the guards close very well, but once a knife is inserted, a thick spine prevents the guard from closing snugly. It's no problem with punched blades or a thin Japanese laser like a Takamura R2 (1.6 mm spine), but thicker German forged blades (2.5 – 3 mm spine) do not fit very well. It's no problem whatsoever to store them in a drawer, but carrying them around loosely in my backpack with only the blade guard does not feel too safe. The laudable customer service of Bisbell is very friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to order more items. Many thanks for your kind comments Timo - thicker blades should also not be a problem! Place blade edge towards the spine with the thick side toward the opening - the guard appears slightly open (due to the thick blade) but becasue the super strong magnets inside will grip the each side of the blade the knife will not slide out easily and are safe to transport or store in this manner.

I have just recently replaced the soft silicone blade guards with the new hard case version and so far, I have been very pleased with the product. Each guard has a tab on either side which makes the guards easier to open than the soft silicone guards. The customer service offered by Bisbell has also been terrific. Many thanks!
